Read (from the New Living Translation)

Ephesians 1:18

I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

Go Deep

Singer/Songwriter, Jordan Feliz, tried to take control when worry took over his life. God was asking him to move across the country and take a huge leap of faith! So, Jordan started planning! But when his plans fell through, he only had one option left. And that’s where he learned a beautiful lesson about God.

After that leap of faith, Jordan Feliz has made some awesome music! Check out this live performance of his song “Witness.”

Notes from the Life Application Study Bible

To receive God’s guidance, said Solomon, we must seek God’s will in all we do. This means turning every area of life over to him. About a thousand years later, Jesus emphasized this same truth (Matthew 6:33). Examine your values and priorities. What is important to you? In what areas have you not acknowledged him? You may already acknowledge God in many areas of your life, but the areas where you attempt to restrict or ignore him will cause you grief. Make him a vital part of everything you do; then he will guide you because you will be working to accomplish his purpose.

Thank you Jordan . You gave a great testimony that leads to trusting God to show us the way .It is hard to let go of our way . But God’s way is always better . May He bless us all to submit to His will and His way .

Jordan, your story is so true. I know many times I try to take matters into my own hands, to the point of exhaustion and frustration. But when I get to the end of myself and submit it to God, suddenly the burden is lifted and the outcome is so much better than I could have planned. Then I look back and laugh at myself, thinking I could have saved time and heartache if I had trusted God to begin with! May God bless you and your wife in your new life in Nashville.

Thank you for sharing your story Jordan. That spoke to me. I too am a planner and struggle with giving up control and letting God direct me. I pray daily for God to give me the courage to let go and allow Him to lead my way.

AMEN! it’s so true.. I’m in a situation where God has been providing and helping me in only GOD ways to live paycheck to paycheck with my husband out of work and going to school. I had to come to terms with my husband quitting his job without even discussing it. He did it on his own.. and I.. I HAD TO ACCEPT it… and move forward.. lol that was so hard… BUT!!! PRAISE JESUS for allowing for grants and financial aid for his school.. PRAISE JESUS for ‘all of a sudden’ increase in pay and government tax changes etc…… Read more »

Wow, this is such good example of how God provides! It’s so easy to forget that our purpose and provision comes form God – not from spouses or jobs or whatever else! What you shared is a really good reminder for me. I love that you’re taking Proverbs 3:5-6 to heart. It’s so true.

Thanks for sharing and being part of the group, shobha!! 😊

Just the Word I need , at just the right time! Thank You Lord! My son is a recovery addict, that relapse happened I in the couple of days. I too struggle with wanting to have everything planned out and in control, especially when it comes to my finances. As a single mother I often find myself worried about how this bill or that unexpected expense will get paid. The stress and worry is sometimes overwhelming. I know He is my provider and my refuge so I have to constantly remind myself. God is greater than any our problems or conflicts. He is forever faithful. Jordan I wish you the best of luck in Nashville!

I knew this day was coming through this group study on fear. I wondered how I would react. Would I be filled with fear, doubt, shame, guilt, aggression? Would I try and ‘control’ those reactions by skipping over Day 9? Nope, quite the opposite and Praise God! I’ve recently found hope and treatment for what my control issues were all about. Fear of losing control and not trusting were the debilitating forces behind OCD and PTSD. After being robbed of my childhood and identity at a vulnerable age and have struggled through adulthood with fear, trust issues and shame. I’ve… Read more »

I thank the Lord for bringing me to this group and for bringing you my way Patrick. I have had my childhood robbed of safety and being able to be a child in normal life, instead I had my life as a child taken away from living with those who made me unhappy and frightened, I was bullied. They had no idea what they were doing to me, now as a born again Christian and been through counseling which helped a bit, but the Lord did much of the work of pulling me back together.I am still here by the… Read more »

Thanks Jordan! When you said God wants more for me than I want for myself was a WOW moment for me. Never in a million years have I thought that. Trusting anyone is hard and trusting someone you can’t physically see is even harder. I’m learning though. Just like you thought you had things in place before you moved, so did I. I keep having these great interviews with people saying they liked me, they like what I stand for and they’re going to call…. It ALWAYS fall through. I was so excited about this last interview and last night… Read more »

Praise God for your commendable spirit through a trying and tough time. I truly believe God has the most perfect job waiting for you. Keep trusting in him and not dwelling on the fear of your temporary situation, but keep on preparing to step out in faithfulness into the plans he has for you. Praying with you, Toya.

Praying for you Toya, and your kids. This strength is from the Lord! He sees you, sister. Your story encourages me… thank you for sharing it. Don’t give up. It might get scarier, but God will always be with you and he will be your shelter. Find the people in your life who can walk with you… God wants us in community (and not JUST online community, but really people who can be blessed by being a blessing in your life by letting you stay with them, paying for groceries, finding you a job, etc). If you’re not in a… Read more »

Thanks Allyss, but no thanks. The reason I’m here is because it’s online and no one knows me and I don’t know anyone. I don’t have to worry about being judged and even if I am, I don’t know about it. I’ve tried the church, several in fact. I’ve even had a minister to actually tell me “how dare you come asking for help? All your kind do is beg. The church is not here to take care of you. Get a job like the rest of us!” So no thanks on the church

Toya, I surely understand your hesitation towards church after the experience you had. But don’t let that keep you from seeking another place of worship. There are many loving and caring churches. I’m attaching a link to Oasis Compassion Agency. I believe they will be able to assist you in providing for your children and help you in your job search. They have been helping the community for several years and I personally know the founders. You will remain in my daily thoughts and prayers. I know you will be a success and to God be the glory.

Something I heard recently was Gods dreams are bigger than yours. I struggle so badly with control. I have to have my hands in everything too. I get that feeling all to well.

Love that message of obedience and trust. It helps me remember that I have a God that loves me and he will take care of all my needs even if it’s down to the last minute but I must trust him fully.

I needed this testimony today, this study is so timely for me right now, I have such control issues and just really new to understanding Holy Spirit and being able to trust the Lord completely with all my “stuff” , it’s not easy but having this study and hearing others stories of struggle and faith with reminders of His promises is helping me daily! God bless you all! Pray that I can keep my trust and faith through trying uncertain times! I am waiting on the Lord to give me guidance in my calling and purpose in a new season… Read more »

Praying for you, Jami! Whenever I’m facing uncertain times in my life, Proverbs 3:5-6 has been a big help to me and I hope it encourages you too! “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

This message really spoke to me. I have given a lot of things to God but yet I haven’t given it all to Him. I will trust in your ways God and I surrender it all to you

Like Jordan, I am a control freak. I am a worrier, too. I worry about a lot of different things, some big things, some small things. Today’s message helped me to realize that all my worries are holding me back from God’s plans for my life.
“Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?”

Cody I am with you as well. I like to think I’m an easy going calm collective soul however I worry about every minute detail and especially what people thought. When looking back on them they definitely did not, like you said, add a single moment of value to my life
Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am with you. Thanks for sharing and will be praying for you!

Thank you Jordan for your great testimony! ! Your words have reminded me that the things I may want for my life right now, may not be what God wants. I am encouraged that just like your testimony the plans God may have for me may not be what I want or think is best for me,but God knows what is best for me. When I give control to God the burden is lifted and I can breath a sigh of relief knowing everything will be okay & I don’t have to worry anymore. Thank you way-fm!! This study is… Read more »

Thank you, Jordan for sharing your awesome testimony. Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. So many great testimonies here!….It was very uplifting reading them and finding out i am not the only one who struggles with letting go and letting God! I would like to know how many have “thought” they were letting God have things and being obedient only to find out it was Satan? Not any big stuff….just everyday I wonder if God is really telling me to do that stuff? I am struggling to hear the Holy Spirit….God speaks to me through music….Jordan’s, Third Day, Mercy Me and others. But the enemy has come into the picture and I stay confused.… Read more »

Where God is involved, there will be peace… Not to mention that He will give you more than one confirmation if you ask for it. I have often been like Gideon with the fleece. God has always been very patient with me, and will show me time and time again if He wants me to do something (“If I keep asking for confirmations”). I can be pretty dense; I just want to check and double-check that I am going to do what God wants me to do; I don’t want to make a misstep. I only want to do what… Read more »

Wow. What a powerful message and reminder that God has it all in control. I needed to hear this. Too often I want and think things should fall in a nice, easy, predictable pattern and when they don’t fear, worry, and anxiety creep in. I wrote out today’s scripture so that I would be able to see it and lean on it every day.

This is something that I can completely relate to! I struggle with giving control to God, despite the fact that every time I try to take things into my own hands it doesn’t turn out the best. Thank you for your testimony!

God has shown me that trusting him is better then trusting myself. And I am an planner. Sometimes doesn’t follow humanistic logic and I’m glad our God is wiser then we are.

Wow! I had a similar experience stepping out in faith to take my daughter back home to Florida from Idaho! I had no money either but we stepped out in faith with only TWO CENTS in my purse, because all the money I had needed to pay for a new carburetor for my van. But as soon as I got it fixed, I heard the Lord tell me “Leave now!” so we did, with only TWO CENTS in my purse but God sent people along the way to help us with gas money and food money, and one trucker even… Read more »

Jordan’s testimony that I read today really hit the nail on the head for me! I had a revelation just a few days ago, through God, that I was under the bondage of control. There have been some health related issues in my life that have been pending for the past month, and this uncertainty has brought me to a scary place. This scary place has caused fear within me which, in turn, brought on extreme stress followed by anxiety. One minute I would feel peace from God but, the next minute, I would be super stressed.. I could feel… Read more »

As I listened to Witness. A thought came to me. that words of telling others that I am a Christian is not enough, that what I should be allowing others to see and be witnesses of God’s love in me.
