Mandisa sinned for 3 years straight. But did Jesus ever stop loving her? We’ll let her tell you about it…

Read (from the New Living Translation)

When you confess your sin, He responds in love. Get another look at that beautiful illustration of Jesus’ love in today’s reading.

Luke 7:36-50

One of the Pharisees asked Jesus to have dinner with him, so Jesus went to his home and sat down to eat. When a certain immoral woman from that city heard he was eating there, she brought a beautiful alabaster jar filled with expensive perfume. Then she knelt behind him at his feet, weeping. Her tears fell on his feet, and she wiped them off with her hair. Then she kept kissing his feet and putting perfume on them.

When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this man were a prophet, he would know what kind of woman is touching him. She’s a sinner!”

Then Jesus answered his thoughts. “Simon,” he said to the Pharisee, “I have something to say to you.”

“Go ahead, Teacher,” Simon replied.

Then Jesus told him this story: “A man loaned money to two people—500 pieces of silver to one and 50 pieces to the other. But neither of them could repay him, so he kindly forgave them both, canceling their debts. Who do you suppose loved him more after that?”

Simon answered, “I suppose the one for whom he canceled the larger debt.”

“That’s right,” Jesus said. Then he turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Look at this woman kneeling here. When I entered your home, you didn’t offer me water to wash the dust from my feet, but she has washed them with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You didn’t greet me with a kiss, but from the time I first came in, she has not stopped kissing my feet. You neglected the courtesy of olive oil to anoint my head, but she has anointed my feet with rare perfume.

“I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.” Then Jesus said to the woman, “Your sins are forgiven.”

The men at the table said among themselves, “Who is this man, that he goes around forgiving sins?”

And Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”

Mandisa beautifully said. The word justified jumped out of me. I have grown up hearing I’m justified thru the shed blood of Jesus but for some reason today it really sank in. I to have gone thru a season of sin a divorce left me seeking food, tv, shopping instead of the true comforter our Lord. I love what you said about the religious spirit says our sin makes us unacceptable to God but the Holy Spirit says we are accepted ! Thank you for sharing by the way you are one of my absolute favorite artist. You are real… Read more »

So true, Laurel. Thank you Lord for people like Mandisa who shows us Jesus in her own spirit … and for the affirming presence of God’s Holy Spirit in our hearts according to the promise of Jesus [Ephesians 1.13-14].

If we would all have that degree of honesty, many more would be attracted to Christ through our honest witness of Christ’s transformation. Jesus isn’t looking for perfect specimens; He looking for people who know how much they need Him. Hallelujah!

Go and sin no more….he also said.my sins are terrible, but I hope no one thinks this justifies sins. He justifies us to free us from the law. We will sin..but we also must do what we can to not do so.

Such a good message. Too many think they have to be perfect to come to Jesus. They fail to realize all are welcome and Jesus will work on perfecting you once you come to Him. You do not have to give everything up to come to Him, you just have to give it up to Him. See where you are wrong and ask Him to make you right. He will. I am far from perfect, but thanks to Jesus I am better than I was yesterday.

I’m just glad you’re back to making music. I like way-Fm better than Klove but I’m so tired of having nothing to dance to while I work, clean, or drive! I don’t know how many times I’ve blasted Only The World in my car while driving. Great music that just makes you want to get up and dance to it. Just watch out for those who will try to bring you down. People can be to quick to point the finger and complain about how you capitalized on your 3 year tragedies. Just stay strong and keep making that awesome… Read more »

I’m playing catch up since I joined 2 days ago. This has me in tears. I’ve been struggling so much for the last couple of years and I can’t seem to ask for forgiveness. I know I don’t deserve it…I keep doing the same things over and over. Mandisa touched my heart with this devotional. I’m not giving up…thank you Jesus for never leaving nor forsaking me.

Mandissa, I love the way you explained this today. And I know you have heard people say how could you be depressed when you’ve got everything. But they are looking on the outside not at the real person. I’ve been overweight all of my life. I’ve been compared to siblings who were not fat. Oh she’s got such a pretty face if she’d just lose that weight. As if there was nothing I could do with my life until I did. So I’ve been in 2 bad marriages. Relationships cause my self esteem is not where it needs to be.… Read more »
