You love the music and we know how powerful it has been in our own lives. So, we’re leaving you with songs that the Lord has used in middle of our own circumstances.

Put them on repeat. Think on these lyrics. Keep them in your playlist for when you have bad days. We hope they remind you you’re not alone, God can work good from your circumstance, and that staying close to God can make all the difference when you’re going through suffering.

Wally

Wally_WBSGbio“Even If” by Kutless

For me, this is one of the best songs to hang onto in the tough times. It is hard when you know in your heart God can heal someone you love physically or emotionally, but for one reason or another that doesn’t happen. My faith forever changed when I stopped letting my circumstances determine my view of God. I learned to believe that God is good even when everything around me might be screaming otherwise. I love the chorus of this song because it is a great reminder:

Even if the healing doesn’t come
And life falls apart,
And dreams are still undone,
YOU are God. YOU are good!”

“Not for a Moment” by Meredith Andrews

We found out with 20 weeks left in our first pregnancy that our son wouldn’t live for more than a few hours after birth. During those agonizing 4 months, I listened to this song and watched the video hundreds of times. I couldn’t speak the words of the chorus with my own mouth during that time, but somehow I knew they were true.

After all You are constant
After all You are only good
After all You are sovereign
Not for a moment will You forsake me

“Worn” by Tenth Avenue North

This song gave me permission to admit that I was tired and worn. In the middle of our storm, we had no hope of redemption winning or the struggle ending. Listening to this song was a way for us to plead for that. And a reminder that it was ok to admit we were at the end of our own strength.

Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart that’s frail and torn
I want to know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all that’s dead inside can be reborn
‘Cause I’m worn

Joy

WBSGbio_Joy“King of the world” by Natalie Grant

This song reminds me in the midst of my stressful life that I don’t have to handle it all alone. God can handle the entire world, so he can handle my issues today.

“Gold” by Britt Nicole

Since I deal with insecurity often, this song is a constant reminder of how God sees me. I’m encouraged to know my worth is so much greater than what I can imagine.

Bekah

WBSGbio_Bekah“Eye of the Storm” by Ryan Stevenson

This was the song I’d put on every day on the way back from the hospital while my husband was sick. I would play it, cry, and then sing it until I believed it. I couldn’t wrap my brain around the storm I was in and I definitely couldn’t get out of it. But I could find peace in the midst of it in Him.

“Sparrows” by Jason Gray

The line, “If He can hold the world, He can hold this moment” runs through my head a lot. Sometimes, suffering might feel ongoing, but it packs an especially painful punch in certain moments. I need that reminder that God is still holding those moments.

Betty

WBSGbio_Betty“No Longer Slaves” by Bethel

“My fears were drowned in perfect love” tells me that if I feel fear, I’m not fully trusting in God’s love for me. It reminds me to go back and remind myself of the truth of how much I matter to God.

“I am a child of God” reminds me to look around at the great examples of parenting I see demonstrated through my friends with their kids, my parents, or even strangers. 1 John 4:8 tells us that God is love. He invented it. He loves us as His own children and we can see a glimmer of that by taking notice of the examples around us.

One song that’s helped me through suffering is ‘Thy Will’ by Hillary Scott. It’s so honest, acknowledging the pain and uncertainty of suffering, but that God is still good and His will will be done.
    “I know you see me
I know you hear me, Lord…”
I love all of the songs you mentioned, especially Eye of the Storm!

Thank you for this small group. Just know that being able to wake up and get into the word through this small group and other devotionals has started my days out the way they should bebstarted out.

As the selfish person I am I always like to get my way, deapite the pain I feel and the damage that I can cause. Just knowing that it is His will and not mine is something I continue to struggle with everyday. But when I submit myself to Him and ask for His will, there is a peace that He allows me to have. If I try to take on the world myself, I become discouraged, tired, and ultimately more broken than I already am. He doesnt work magic tricks, He works miracles, but not on my time rather on His perfect timing. That allows me the peace and strength I need everyday. The music that I tap into everyday through your ministry allows me to be remonded of His Mercy and Grace.
So even as I shed tears throughout the day that my circumstamce hasnt changed because of my brokenness, somehow through those tears I know I am blessed because He has total control.
Thank you for your ministry and know that He is at work through everything you are allowing Him to work through you.

I completely agree with you on Hillary Scott’s “Thy Will”. It’s a perfect somg that describes how we need to fully trust God in His plan for our lives, even through the heartbreaks.
Another somg that could go along with this list is “Breathe” by Jonny Diaz. Sometimes when we’re suffering or overwhelmed, webstress out about everything going on, but in this song he talks about how we need to take a minutes to just breathe and forget about everything for a minute. Another if hus songs is “Chance”, in which he sings about how our sufferings and hardships are a chance for us to get closer in relationship with God.

Monika, yes to adding ‘Breathe’! I never tire of hearing that song – it’s a reminder to me to…breathe.

        • Jes B

When I was going through an especially bad time dealing with overwhelming depression and anxiety, I listened to Breathe alot and sang the words in my head to keep me going. I know Plumb has dealt with the same issues and is why she wrote the song, so it was my anthem.

    • Joy

Thank you so much for reminding me of God’s timing. Just having twin boys a year ago an now fixing to go through a divorce. I felt like my life was over an although I cry almost every day I know God have me an my family in his hands. I ask him all the time why hasn’t he changed my husband an him want to come home. Ultimately it’s what God wants not me.

      • Jes B

        I’m so sorry

My dad died three, nearly four years ago, and one of the songs that has helped me the most when it comes to missing him and being still kinda mad at God for taking him is ‘Shoulders’ by For King and Country. Every line in that song seems to effect me in different ways, but I think the line that effected me the the line “You mend what once was shattered, and you turn my tears to laughter”

“Tell your heart to beat again” by Danny Gokey helped tremendously when my father passed away unexpectedly this year. My mom is in the late stages of dementia and my dad had been my rock during the process of caring for her. I felt like giving up, like I would never heal from the loss.
Every time I got in the car to go somewhere, that song would come on, as if Christ himself dedicated it to me.
Thank you Danny for writing a song that helped me heal. Thank you Way FM for playing it when I needed to hear it most.

THROUGH ALL OF IT BY COLTON DIXON AND & EVERYTHING FALLS BY FEE AND BLESSINGS BY LAURA STORY’. Remember to Walk in His power for it is in you. Trust in this power to get you through it all. Sometimes tis all you have to lien on in life. Here are the lyrics of a John Denver song I changed maybe you will feel something. enjoy.
My risen Lord taught me to sing a love song,
He showed me how to laugh and how to cry.
He introduced me to some friends of mine and brightened up some days.
He helped me make it through some lonely nights, oh Lord
What a friend to have on a cold and lonely night
My risen Lordr gave me my lovely lady, He opened up her eyes and ears to me.
He brought us close together and I guess He broke her heart,
He opened up a space for us to be oh Lord, what a lovely place and a lovely space to be.
My risen Lord gave me my life my living all the things you know I love to do
To serenade with praise to the Lord above from a moonlit mountainside,
and most of all, to sing my songs for you, oh Lord, I love to sing my songs for you,
yes I do my Lord, you know, I love to sing my songs for you.

When I lost my baby sister a little over a year ago I felt so lost, and still do. I miss her so much, and still find it hard to believe she is not on this earth with us anymore. WAYFM family and music and words have helped me every day, I am so thankful. The songs that helped me the most: “Let Your Heart Beat Again” by Danny Gokey, “Flawless” by Mercy Me, and “Through All of This” by Colton Dixon. I tell my family, friends and acquaintances all the time that if I did not know that our God is in control at all times I could not even get out of bed in the morning. And thank God He is in control…always!! PS: one of my all time favorite songs I lean on “God is in Control” by Twila Paris.

  8. Aimee Newman 🎹🎤

Thy Will, and Praise you in this storm, were so powerful during our suffering. And even though we are not completely out of our storm we are seeing God move in ways that can only be Him. Thank you Father!

My favorites are Need You Now by Plumb and Oceans by Hillsong.

    • Jes B

LOVE both of those! When I was taking foster care classes and not sure if this is what God wanted, and was SO scared that He did, Oceans was my song.”You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail” just FELT like what He was asking me to do. Walk out in faith.

Thank you so much for this small group this month. Each day the readings spoke to my heart and reminded me of God’s love. I love all the songs you posted today especially Eye of the Storm. Those lyrics were what kept me going during a 9 day stay in the hospital in June.
Another one of my favorites is I Am by Crowder. For me, at the beginning it’s me saying that I’m holding on to God and then somewhere in the middle it switches and it’s God singing that He is holding on to me. Love, love, love that.
    I am
    Holding on to You
    I am
    Holding on to You
In the middle of the storm
    I am holding on
    I am

  20. Mary

Thank you so much for this study. It has been encouraging to see how others are dealing with tough times. The song Worn really describes where I am at right now and I am thankful for the reminder that I can be honest with God and tell him that.

I can’t believe we are on the last day! I have looked forward to this every morning, it has been very uplifting. God knew I would need it before I even did. In the course of this study, my marriage has been under attack from the enemy in a way that caused a separation for now,my finances have fallen apart, and just yesterday,my mother stopped breathing and is in the hospital under heavy sedation and on a ventilator. In all this,God just keeps reminding me I was never in charge of any of this anyway, I lean into Him and find my rest. AND, a song I’ve found that chases all the enemy army away in defeat is “Higher” my Unspoken. If we boldly, and I even do it aloud, proclaim God’s goodness in the midst of our storm,if we refuse to let negativity and fear rule us, and if we proclaim he has already won the war for us- we are walking in God’s will! “Battles” by Unspoken and “I Have Been There” by Mark Schultz are too others that encourage me! God bless each and every one of us.

What a blessing this community and ministry of WAYFM, and a special thanks for the WBSG!

Here are two songs that I have found special comfort and renewal:

    Casting Crowns: Just Be Held
“So when you’re on your knees and answers seem so far away
You’re not alone, stop holding on and just be held
Your world’s not falling apart, it’s falling into place
I’m on the throne, stop holding on and just be held”

    Big Daddy Weave: My Story

When something has me downhearted, or feeling bad… this song settles me and brings me to a more positive and joyful place, in spite of any pain or suffering I may be in the middle of. Helps me find the blessings in the middle of the storm!

  23. Profile photo of Lindsay

I would have to add “Just Be Held” by Casting Crowns. It is an encouraging reminder that I can’t and shouldn’t try to take care of all my problems on my own. God wants us to remember that He wants us to run to Him in our struggles and rest in His power to find peace and strength.

Thank you so much for the group study. It has been very insightful and inspiring. I really appreciate the opportunities to have been a little part of the lives of others here – to learn from that and to have better perspectives as the result of it. Way FM has been the only Christian music station that I have ever listened to on a consistent basis. It along with my church have been life savors. Songs get me through so many moments in my walk with the Lord. They just seem to come on at the perfect moment. I am so blessed by christian radio I can’t even begin to explain it. The new song Chain Breaker I believe it called has meant so much to me, I love it.

  36. Theresa

For me it was “Priceless” by For King and Country
I went to see the movie with really knowing what it was about and cried the whole way through. I went through that when I was 12 up until I was 16 and this song made me realize that I am no defined by my past and that I am not alone. My brokenness, no matter how ugly the experience is made beautiful when I give it to God because then it was not in vain but for a purpose.

  37. Dianne

Thank you, thank you, to infinity and beyond!

  38. Denise

I lost my husband expectantly almost two years ago (Nov 17).We have one daughter that was 12 at the time. He was a Pastor and had just preached just 6 hours before his death. “Just Be Held” by Casting Crowns was just beginning to be played on the radio. It was and still is the song that I heard that brings comfort that God is holding me and my daughter and walking us through this new life without him. You never understand until you walk the path of just how much responsibility you feel after they are gone. Things that you used to not have to worry about becomes completely your responsibility. You never really have time to just “take a break knowing that your spouse is there to take care of things” Every decision, whether it be financial, parenting, etc. you carry the weight of “handling it”. That song reminds me that at times I need to “Just be Held” and trust HIM!

God was, is, and always will be my anchor.

I was blessed to have between a part of this small group. It was definitely an encouragement to me.

These are the songs that help me through the rough spots: “Praise You in this Storm” by Casting Crowns; “Though You Slay Me” by Shane and Shane; “I don’t Feel no Ways Tired” by Mighty Clouds of Joy; “All I have is Christ”; “Lord I Don’t Know” by Newsboys; “Jesus is the Lamb” by Carman;”Inkanyezi Nezazi” (the Star and the Wise men) and “King of Kings” by Ladysmith Black Mambazo; “Jericho” by Niemand; “Great and Mighty” by Planetshakers; “Revelation Song”.
There are others that are especially encouraging as well, but their names are escaping me.
God bless all involved the the small group. Peace to you. Trust Him. He knows the way through.

God’s grace is so awesome and amazing. I have become increasingly aware that The closer you walk with God, the more intensely you feel his grace. Participation in this small group has not only been uplifting, it has been insightful. It has become so apparent that there are really no circumstances where the phrase “why me?” is appropriate. Devastating and debilitating tragedy finds its way into the life of almost everyone at some point. “Guide me” is so much more appropriate and effective. It has become more noticeable that in every genre of music, not just Christian music, there are messages of Hope, love, and personal Journeys to God. Most artists will tell you that those messages do not come from them, but through them from God. Through the ages, God has spoken to us, guided us, and comforted us through music.
There are no small blessings no Small Miracles, no small Grace’s… They are all incredibly significant. My life has changed so drastically over the past three years. My daughter passed away, my mother passed away, and the last transition, although joyful, had its impact… My precious granddaughter (that I raised) got married and moved about an hour’s drive away. I still talk to her almost daily, but it’s not quite the same as the intimate interaction that has been a part of my life for so many years.
I spend a lot of time with God now… It sustains me. It is amazing how much more aware I have become of God’s responses to my prayers. I believe those responses have always been there… the incredible changes are in learning to pay attention. Many people pray for miracles and believe those prayers have not been answered. They are not paying attention… Sometimes those answers come in the form of many seemingly small miracles that ultimately guide you to God’s chosen destination. Hardly a day goes by I am not stunned by some unbelievable miracle. Sometimes they are in the form of a message… Many times through the words of a song… I think if you practice paying attention, you will be amazed to find that God is always responding to your prayers.

Right now several of these songs are getting me through a rough time. I’m praying for restoration in my marriage, fam/friendships. I realize that God is in control and he will restore things, I just have to be patient. Thanks for sharing these songs.God Bless.

  49. Teepee

Some of my go to songs are:
Amazing Grace ( Chains are gone); Chris Tomlin
    Oh How He Loves; Crowder
Praise You in the Storm; Casting Crowns
    Oceans; Hillsong
    Stand;Susan Ashton
    Shackles;Mary Mary
    to name a few.
I still don’t know the name of the song or artist but it confirmed the decision I had to make concerning my broken marriage. The Lord had revealed numerous scriptures to me but could not accept what He was telling me. So I met with my pastor and his wife and led them through my revelation. BOTH reiterated what I thought God was telling me. So when I got in my car to go home and turned on the ignition, the lyrics, “This is where the healing begins” played. I knew then what I had to do.
Thank you WAY FM and staff for answering your call to serve. Thank you WBSG for the blessings we have received.God Bless!

Instead I learned that Jesus knew the exact hurt when his friend lazarus died . so much that one of the most known verses “Jesus wept” was included in the Bible. My God cares for me and he knows every feeling I have had first hand. I am not alone.

I am so thankful for the worship music that gets me through the day! Some I just have to play over and over.

During the past few days I was not able to partake in the daily devotions due to being by my Father’s bedside as he took his last breath. I may not had the encouraging words from this group to guide me, but I felt God’s presence every day. This list of songs are ones that I listen to often and will now be my reminder that God is always by my side even in the darkest hours. Now as I catch up on the daily readings I will find more comfort in the words than I did before. Thank you for creating this group and for sharing the truth about God’s love.

The song I always turn to is Broken Hallelujah. It allows me to know with all I am that in those times of deep pain God accepts my whatever I can manage and however I speak it. He knows my situation and He is right there with me, broken, worn out, speechless, needing to know I’m not alone.

I am a single mother of 3: 2 boys and 1 girl. I also take care of the support of my mother and have since my mom and dad divorced after 29 years,s he is a heart patient and unable to work. I have spent Alot of time running from God, already knowing that was a bad idea. I rededicated my life almost 3 months ago and began praying for my life-long helpmate. I felt led to a friend that God immediately pointed out to me and then He told me to wait. Being as stubborn as I am, I wasn’t waiting so he allowed him to spend the last 30+ days in jail. During this time, trying to remember that God is in control, I found WAY FM. I have found hope in my daily struggles in 5 songs that God has used WAY FM to guide me through every moment. Thy Will by Hillary Scott, Eye of the Storm by Ryan Stephenson, and Chain breaker by Zach Williams have been the three that have helped me keep taking the next step and remember that God is in control and has a plan for my life far better than ANYTHING that I could even imagine. The fourth song that gets an honorable mention is one that has become my daughter’s favorite, Priceless by King and Country. She is almost 10 and sings it almost non stop. The fifth is the one my 8 year old son tells is his favorite every time he hears it, Love with Your Life by Blanca. I would appreciate prayers for all the struggles God is allowing us to grow closer to him through and want to also give a personal thank you to the singers and songwriters of the above mentioned songs and to the WAY FM staff and listeners. If it wasn’t for all of you supporting the station and letting God work through you, people like me might be lost and running forever God bless you all!

Another song that I absolutely love is “My Victory” by David Crowder. It reminds me that when I feel tempted or just in fear. I am reminded that I have already won, and I am victorious for what Jesus did for me on the cross. I have been given a new life of victory while in Him!

  63. The song “Sparrows” is one I wish I would have had around my whole life. What a great reminder of the TRUTH. The enemy likes to whisper in our ear, or even scream it loud, that we don’t matter, but GOD. He knows the hairs on our heads and loves even the smallest of His creations. Such a great song!

    I. also love “The Hurt and The Healer” by Mercy Me and “How Many Times” by Plum.

What an amazing journey this has been. I am so blessed that this was here for me during this time of struggle. Although, it si not over, I have the words of God to look back on to get me through until I get to the other side of this mess and be able to see what God has done in, through, and for me.

Sparrows & Worn are some of my favorites. It is funny how I listen to these songs daily on the radio, but for me it wasn’t until I watched the videos and read the words that I connected to them. They spoke even more to me.

Thank you for these devotions and all the wonderful music you play on Way FM.
I have my own list of songs that help when my life gets overwhelming: “Even If” by Kutless; “Blessed Be Your Name” by Tree 63; two Rich Mullins songs “Hold Me Jesus” and “Sometimes By Steps”; and “No Longer Slaves” by Bethel.

I take every moment of my life, and I pray I’ve given everything to Him because I no longer want to live in fear. I want to experience life to the fullest. And He’s given me a full, abundant life to live every moment with Him. As I remember the serenity prayer in its fullness, I am to “live one day at a time, enjoying one moment at at time.” I can only change me by giving whatever it is I want to change to God. I pray for a path to perfect peace.
