Are you waiting for an answer? Betty Rock (from The Wally Show) knows what it’s like to wait and not see the answer you’re expecting. She’s learning something imperative about Jesus in the process…

Read (from the New Living Translation)

Just because God hasn’t answered your prayer, doesn’t mean He doesn’t hear you and He isn’t working.

Luke 18:1-8

One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up. “There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who neither feared God nor cared about people. A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’”

Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?”

Note: If you’ve read the Bible before, you may notice there are no chapter or verse marks in today’s reading. We got this idea from the Immerse Bible. They’ve taken the entire story of Jesus and stripped it of all distractions – this way it’s a more relaxed read. Like you’re reading a beautiful story. You should check it out!

Betty, I think you are a beautiful, sweet young woman with a very kind heart! I know God has a Godly man out there looking for just you & one day He will put you together!! You have such a beautiful face & you’re so cute it surprises me you don’t have many men that would love you but God’s timing is not our timing! God less you & never give up!! You are a sweetheart!!❤️

Thank you for sharing this Betty Rock! Sometimes it does feel like you are all alone in this and that all your other friends are happily married. it’s so encouraging to hear you and watch you go through this time with so much grace. We are all in this together! God Bless!

Thank you Betty your husband is out there he might be like mine God has to test him and bring him through some trials and tribulations to make him just right for you! Just as he has given you this “gift”. He will bring you together at just the right time! My husband had to wait 12 yrs for me to see him! And if God whould have brought us together before that (even a year earlier)we whould have never made it almost 11 yrs. I wouldnt have been able to stand him if were honest.

A wonderful testimony. I’ve had many relationships but none with a Christian mate. I am standing in faith that God will provide according to His will. I will not compromise again. Stay in faith Betty Rock, God’s got you!

Thank you, Betty, for that really candid and insightful journey that you’re on! Even though I have been married since 2003, there are two things which seem like the Lord has not blessed me with yet that I’ve been praying for years regarding: I’ve been having severe health issues 2006 and also I’ve not ever found the right career (also road block after road block regarding finishing my Bachelor degree) that has brought satisfaction. So, I can definitely understand waiting – for what seems like forever – but I know that the Lord sometimes allows us to walk through a… Read more »

Betty, thanks for the encouraging words. God has a husband for you. I am praying the same for myself. I have been married twice to the wrong men and don’t think I have ever been truly loved like God intends for a husband to love his wife. I’m 53 and it is easy to get discouraged but we have to remain hopeful and faithful. I love listening to you!!

I feel like I got a slightly different message from this passage. I recently was in a car accident that broke my ankle. I can’t work, my husband and I just rented a house, and we have 2 children. I’ve been struggling to keep my head up, as my insurance agency changed my policy after the accident and removed the personal medical coverage I’ve paid for for the last 2 years. They are claiming I never had the coverage, refusing to pay my medical bills, and we can’t really afford my appointment to find out if I need surgery or… Read more »

Hello Kayla! I just want you to know I’ll be praying for you. God is a God of justice and will provide it for you. This is one of my favorite songs right now. https://youtu.be/8kPKTwzrAn8
It’s “Faithful” by Hawk Nelson. I hope you can soak in the lyrics that proclaim the truth of God’s faithfulness!

Kayla, that is so hard. Praying that God fills you with incredible strength to keep moving forward. And praying that he would provide a way to get you the care that you need. Thank you for sharing. And I hope this did encourage you. God hears! He is in the thick of this with you and he IS faithful, even when things don’t look like we thought they would. (Love the song Elizabeth posted below, too!)

Thank you for sharing your story. I have been learning just how hard it is to wait on God when we pray fervently but don’t seem to get a response: My husband of 22 years divorced me, leaving me with a school age child to care for. I went back to college and graduated with my nursing degree, thinking that having a career as a nurse would enable me to provide a home for my daughter. However, in the 6 months since I graduated, I have been unable to find a job. There are TONS of nursing jobs out there,… Read more »

I love those last two sentences! How hard they are to remember in times of waiting, but how TRUE they are! Thank you so much for sharing here. I hope this encouraged you, too!

Betty, I want to thank you for being an example to young women and girls who are convinced that they can only find fulfillment in marriage or romantic relationships. Through your time of waiting, you’ve learned and shown others that true fulfillment comes from your relationship with Christ. Finding fulfillment in Christ first and foremost prepares us for life in general, and prevents a lot of the heartbreak that can come when we expect our spouses or significant others to give us that level of fulfillment. Having been in failed relationships, and having finally waited for God to move and… Read more »

Betty Rock, thank you for your honesty. God answers prayers in His perfect timing. He is never early and never late; He is always on time and will do immeasurably more than we could ever ask or imagine. (Eph 3:20-21).And know that His grace is sufficient for all our needs.
Side note: way to keep Wally on his toes every morning! That is a full time job, right there!

It’s important to remember that God answers all prayer. Sometimes His answer isn’t what we want or expect. He is a just God always, even when we feel we are being handed an unjust circumstance in life. When you find yourself facing the giants in your life rejoice! God is with you and it’s through the trials of life we grow and it’s when we acknowledge we can’t, that we learn of God’s grace and power first hand

Prayers can be answered in ways we thought they would be or in ways that make us scratch our heads. Betty Rock is right when she says, “There is purpose to the pain”. Looking back, I can see God answered some of my past prayers in ways I didn’t understand at the time but worked out for the best in the long run.

He is in the waiting! Yes He’s in the answered prayers but God does amazing wonders IN the waiting!! I prayed 10 years for my Jewish husband come to Christ. February this year my husband accepted Jeus as our Lord and Savior!

Betty: I am the person who sent Hunter and Joy that plaque as a wedding gift. I told them that the next Way FM personality to get married was going to be you. I am so confident that I already bought the wood to make you a plaque when you get married and all you have to do is supply the pictures. God is preparing someone really special for you. It will be worth the wait. You’ll see.

I was like you, wanting someone. Tire of waiting I tried to fix it on my own, much like Sarah and Abraham did pick one myself. Of course it was just as much a disaster as their fix and did not end well. Finally, in my 40s, giving up, resigned to be just me and my boys, God sent me a fabulous man. One that I in no way deserved. The consequences of my fixing it are now not having as much times with this man as I would have had, if I had only been patient and waited on… Read more »

I am in the same situation, Betty and in the similar age category! Though I have dated in the past, none were godly Christian men. Since then, I believe the Holy Spirit has strengthened me and my faith, and I continue to not settle for less than God’s best for me. STAY STRONG, sister! It does seem at times like we’re the only ones, but it’s not true. It will happen in God’s timing, as he is still working on us and shaping us into who He’s made us to be. 🙂 God bless.

Betty thank you for being so open with us . My life is the other end of your story . My beloved Christian wife of 27 years has just been called back to the Lord . Whether it is not getting what we want , or having it taken from us God has us in His heart. He is a jealous God and perhaps He wants us to spend more time looking to Him than anyone else . One day when we are with Him in unspeakable joy and glory , our trials will seem pale in comparison. May God… Read more »

No matter what the reason for any heartbreak or heartache, God does have a purpose to strengthen each of His children. Thanks, Betty, for being a light for us to be encouraged. You are a “cutie patootie”! ????

Betty I was married in my 30s. I dated a lot but God New who I needed. We have been married ove4 20 Years now. Life always has its challenges, marriage and family are not always perfect. As I stand here before you and God I am beyond grateful that God did not grant my desire before it was time. I never would have made it where I am today.

In thinking about this passage, I’m thinking about 2 ladies I’ve been praying for. I know God will give them justice, sometimes that’s though changing them and me in the process. Sometimes justice isn’t what we think it is.
