Is there a part of your life that you don’t think Jesus can use? You downplay this aspect of your story, hoping no one notices? Matthew West does. But his attitude about how Jesus views even these dark parts of himself has changed everything.

Read (from the New Living Translation)

In today’s story, Jesus shows remarkable grace to a group of men. But only one comes back and responds. It’s not to late for us to say “thank you.” Jesus gives tons of grace and longs for that relationship with you.

Luke 17:11-19

As Jesus continued on toward Jerusalem, he reached the border between Galilee and Samaria. As he entered a village there, ten men with leprosy stood at a distance, crying out, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”

He looked at them and said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed of their leprosy.

One of them, when he saw that he was healed, came back to Jesus, shouting, “Praise God!” He fell to the ground at Jesus’ feet, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan.

Jesus asked, “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” And Jesus said to the man, “Stand up and go. Your faith has healed you.”

Note: If you’ve read the Bible before, you may notice there are no chapter or verse marks in today’s reading. We got this idea from the Immerse Bible. They’ve taken the entire story of Jesus and stripped it of all distractions – this way it’s a more relaxed read. Like you’re reading a beautiful story. You should check it out!

Wow! Thank you Matthew and WBSG. What an incredible devotional today! I’m just now coming out of one of the most broken parts of my entire life and you are so right. God in His grace has used this deep suffering and brokenness to have maximum impact on so many in my life. In that grace He used to uphold and sustain me I was able to show wisdom, poise, and dignity when what I really felt like doing was anything but those things. He most certainly is in the “”Junkyard Business” which allows us to live a more authentic… Read more »

I love how you said His grace is what sustained you and helped you live a life of wisdom and love when you were weak. That’s something I’ve been challenged with lately – realizing I canNOT live like Jesus wants me to on my own. It’s His grace that fills me up and Him that makes it possible. I love your comment. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you Jesus for using a broken woman for your glory. I only see glimpses of His works. May He use me in ways I may never see. May I always be grateful as the 1 leper was.

I Love that our God is in the “junkyard business”. He didn’t make the junk, we do. But when we give Him our junk He can make a treasure trove out of it. He took the mess I was in and continues to astound me with his blessings. It is not easy and life is far from perfect but He is with me and He keeps showing me He is all I truly need. I am so thankful He keeps pursuing us and never tires or gives up. Thank you, LORD,for your love and faithfulness!

WOW!! Praise our wonderful beyond description Heavenly Father, who uses people like Matthew West to hit home with such a real and powerful message about God’s Grace. I needed to hear from God in this way today. Thank you, Matthew, for your candor.

Praise God for His amazing grace, mercy and light in our broken places! I am blessed to be in leadership at Colorado Community Church with Celebrate Recovery as the Womens Mental Health Champion. God took my anxiety and PTSD and is using His light to shine through my broken pieces to help others find the beauty in transformation! Thank you Jesus!

I love Matthew’s explanation of God using the worst parts of us. But you know what? When we share the ugly parts along with the healing that came from it, God blesses us more than our hearts can hold. ???? Thank you God, for using broken things.
