Read (from the New Living Translation)

John 15:4-5

Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.
“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.

Dating and romantic relationships can amplify our feelings of anxiety, worry, and fear. Today, Rebie from WAY Nation (and guest on The Wally Show) tells the story of her own bravery amidst relationship turmoil. It’s a fun story, but it packs a big punch when we realize what was at the root of her confidence in the first place.

Notes from the Life Application Study Bible

Remaining in Christ means (1) believing that he is God’s Son (1 John 4:15), (2) receiving him as Savior and Lord (John 1:12), (3) doing what God says (1 John 3:24), (4) continuing to believe the Good News (1 John 2:24), and (5) relating in love the community of believers, Christ’s body (John 15:12).

You may have heard today’s verse before, but wow, it’s a good one. Really take this to heart today.

Read (from the New Living Translation)

Psalm 23:1-4

The Lord is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.
He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads me beside peaceful streams.
    He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
    bringing honor to his name.
Even when I walk
    through the darkest valley,[a]
I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff
    protect and comfort me.

Bekah (from The Wally Show) was faced with her worst fear. When her husband got sick, she was faced with the possibility of losing him. Thankfully this didn’t happen, but this did set off a long chain of dealing with a chronic sickness. New fears began to pop up in Bekah’s mind, but today, she’s sharing what she’s learned through this process and some powerful ways to combat your worst fears.

Notes from the Life Application Study Bible

Death casts a frightening shadow over us because we are entirely helpless in its presence. We can struggle with other enemies – pain, suffering, disease, injury – but strength and courage cannot overcome death. It has the final word Only one person can walk with us through death’s dark valley and bring us safely to the other side – the God of life, our shepherd. Because life is uncertain, we should follow this shepherd who offers us eternal comfort.

Today’s reading is a little longer, but it’s so worth it! Let these words sink in as you read them.

Read from the New Living Translation

Romans 8:28-39

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. 29For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn* among many brothers and sisters. <sup<30And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory.
Nothing Can Separate Us from God’s Love

31What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? 33Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. 34Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.

35Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? 36(As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) 37No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

38And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Philippians 1:21

For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better.

For other encouraging passages, read John 3.16-17; John 11; 1 Thessalonians 4.13-18; 1 Corinthians 15; 2 Corinthians 4.16-5.10; and Psalm 90. – Pastor Dave

Go Deep

This is a topic that may hit home for you. Whether you’re afraid of losing someone you love or maybe you’ve lost someone, you’re not alone in feeling fear or dread when coming face to face with death.

In today’s video, Pastor Dave (from WAY-FM’s Prayer Wall) talks openly about this topic. He’s walked through this with some of his own friends and tells the story of one in particular that can really help as you battle your own fears.

Notes from the Life Application Study Bible

God works in “everything” – not just isolated incidents – for our good. This does not mean that all that happens to us is good. Evil is prevalent in our fallen world, but God is able to turn every circumstance around for our long-range good. Not that God is not working to make us happy but to fulfill his purpose. Note also that this promise is not for everybody. It can be claimed only by those who love God and are called by him, that is, those whom the Holy Spirit convinces to receive Christ. Such people have a new perspective, a new mind-set. They trust in God, not in worldly treasures; their security is in heaven, not on earth. Their faith in God does not waver in pain and persecution because they know God is with them.

When the bad news keeps coming and anxiety hits, in that exact moment, what do you do? What is your first reaction? Today’s video is going to explore a response to anxiety that might change your entire outlook on your situation.

Read (from the New Living Translation)

Psalm 37:4

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.

Psalm 27:1-4

The Lord is my light and my salvation—
so why should I be afraid?
The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger,
    so why should I tremble?
When evil people come to devour me,
when my enemies and foes attack me,
    they will stumble and fall.
Though a mighty army surrounds me,
my heart will not be afraid.
Even if I am attacked,
    I will remain confident.

The one thing I ask of the Lord
    the thing I seek most—
is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
    delighting in the Lord’s perfections
    and meditating in his Temple.

Notes from the Life Application Study Bible

Fear is a dark shadow that envelops us and ultimately imprisons us within ourselves. Everyone has been a prisoner of fear at one time or another-fear of rejection, misunderstanding, uncertainty, sickness, or even death. But we can conquer fear by trusting in the Lord, who brings salvation. If we want to dispel the darkness of fear, let us remember with the psalm writer that “the Lord is my light and my salvation.”

Read (from the New Living Translation)

Ephesians 1:18

I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

Singer/Songwriter, Jordan Feliz, tried to take control when worry took over his life. God was asking him to move across the country and take a huge leap of faith! So, Jordan started planning! But when his plans fell through, he only had one option left. And that’s where he learned a beautiful lesson about God.

After that leap of faith, Jordan Feliz has made some awesome music! Check out this live performance of his song “Witness.”

Notes from the Life Application Study Bible

To receive God’s guidance, said Solomon, we must seek God’s will in all we do. This means turning every area of life over to him. About a thousand years later, Jesus emphasized this same truth (Matthew 6:33). Examine your values and priorities. What is important to you? In what areas have you not acknowledged him? You may already acknowledge God in many areas of your life, but the areas where you attempt to restrict or ignore him will cause you grief. Make him a vital part of everything you do; then he will guide you because you will be working to accomplish his purpose.

There’s a lot to worry about and a lot to be afraid of, isn’t there? So, today’s fool-proof topic will be a breath of fresh air! It’s the one thing you never have to be afraid of losing.

Read (from the New Living Translation)

Romans 8:38

When Betty Rock (from The Wally Show) found herself angry at God, fear instantly struck. “Great, now even God is mad at me. I don’t even have him.” But thankfully, God showed up powerfully in this moment and taught her something about fear that we all need to remember.

Notes from the Life Application Study Bible

Powers are unseen forces of evil in the universe, forces like Satan and his fallen angels (see Ephesians 6:12). In Christ we are super-conquerors, and his love will protect us from any such forces.

Not only is CJ a hilarious storyteller, but what brought him to the CJ & Joy show in the first place took courage – and a big step of faith. In fact, it took him driving 5 hours away from home just to say one prayer! Hear all about it in today’s video.

Notes from the Life Application Study Bible

The end result of the Holy Spirit’s work in our lives is deep and lasting peace. Unlike worldly peace, which is usually defined as the absence of conflict, this peace is confident assurance in any circumstance; with Christ’s peace, we have no need to fear the present or the future. Sin, fear, uncertainty, doubt, and numerous other forces are at war within us. The peace of God moves into our hearts and lives to restrain these hostile forces and offer comfort in place of conflict. Jesus says he will give us that peace if we are willing to accept it from him. If your life is full of stress, allow the Holy Spirit to fill you with Christ’s peace (see Philippians 4:6, 7 for more on experiencing God’s peace).

Welcome to Day 6! You’re 1/3 of the way through the series! We hope your perspective on fear is starting to change for the better. Today we get into some very practical advice on dealing with the crippling effects of anxiety and panic attacks. This is a good one!

Read (from the New Living Translation)

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

Before going into a songwriting session, Jasmine Murray suffered from a panic attack. This had been going on for a while and she hadn’t opened up about it. But that day, everything changed and something beautiful came from it. If you’ve ever suffered from anxiety, Jasmine’s video is for you!

This is the song that Jasmine wrote that day in the songwriting session. It’s called, “Fearless.”

Notes from the Life Application Study Bible

We’re all encouraged by a leader who stirs us to move ahead, someone who believes we can do the task he has given and who will be with us all the way. God is that kind of leader. He knows the future, and his plans for us are good and full of hope. As long as God, who knows the future, provides our agenda and goes with us as we fulfill his mission, we can have boundless hope. This does not mean that we will be spared pain, suffering, or hardship, but that God will see us through to a glorious conclusion.

It’s hard to talk about fear and not think about the tragedies we see on the news every day. We’ve all had those moments when we think, “That could happen to anyone… Even me.” Let’s talk about keeping that fear from controlling our minds and what truths God gives us to think on instead.

Read (from the New Living Translation)

2 Timothy 1:7

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

When walking into a football stadium just days after a tragic shooting, Justin Paul (from WAY-FM) was reminded of something his mother used to tell him. It was surprisingly relevant to every adult struggling with fear.

Notes from the Life Application Study Bible

Paul [author of 2 Timothy] mentions three characteristics of the effective Christian leader: power, love, and self-discipline. These are available to us because the Holy Spirit lives in us. Follow his leading each day so that your life will more fully exhibit these characteristics. See Galatians 5:22, 23 for a list of the by-products of the Holy Spirit living in us.

You made it to Day 4! Just a reminder, if you ever need prayer as you work through these topics, please comment below or visit WAY-FM’s Prayer Wall. We’d love to pray for you and encourage you!

Read (from the New Living Translation)

1 Samuel 17:26

David asked the soldiers standing nearby, “What will a man get for killing this Philistine and ending his defiance of Israel? Who is this pagan Philistine anyway, that he is allowed to defy the armies of the living God?”

Have you ever looked at your problems and thought, “This is just too big.” Joy Summers (of CJ & Joy) has been there, too!! In today’s video, Joy gets into the details of how we can start looking beyond our fears and at a God who is bigger than we can imagine!

Notes from the Life Application Study Bible

What a difference perspective can make. Most of the onlookers saw only a giant. David, however, saw a mortal man defying almighty God. Goliath was a target too big to miss. He knew he would not be alone when he faced Goliath; God would fight with him. He looked at his situation from God’s point of view. Who or what are the “giants” you are facing?
